I’m sitting here in bed on a Sunday morning, looking out over the ocean in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after having spent an amazing day with a client and friend designing her future for the next year. In the past 4 months my life has changed radically, both externally and internally.
Externally, my circumstances changed – I moved back to Michigan after 4 years in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I spent the summer living alone in our home, as my husband was still finishing up his assignment there.
Internally, much, much more changed. I realized that I was in survival mode my last year in Sao Paulo. Struggling with chronic pain due to an injury, I wasn’t sleeping well, moving well, nor creating well in my life. Getting myself out of survival mode is why I chose to leave Sao Paulo early. I should have chosen to leave even earlier.
From the moment I arrived back in Michigan everything began to change. It felt like a lid had been taken off of me, and immediately I began to feel better physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
I got support from an amazing coach.
I had a major breakthrough in my own coaching practice and began to create it in new and powerful ways.
I stepped out of being a victim in my life and back into being the creator.
I started helping others to take their lids off, too.
Why do we keep the lid on?
For me, I needed someone else to tell me that I was in survival mode. Because everything I was doing in Sao Paulo “made sense” in a rational way to everyone around me. It probably seemed like I was doing fine, from the outside.
But until my coach told me that I was surviving, not thriving, did I fully realize it myself. And then I chose to make that realization a defining moment of change.
This. Ends. Now.
What I have learned because of this experience is that we are ALL very powerful creators – of our experiences, of our realities, of our lives. Sometimes we forget this, and need to be reminded.
Do you need to be reminded? When was the last time you FELT the power of yourself as a creator? When was the last time you had a dream or a goal that scared you?
This is why you’re here – to co-create with the universe in a fun and meaningful way. If you’ve forgotten this, let me know. I have an exercise that will quickly remind you. 🙂
